Watching the State of the Union Speech, I felt pride going through my body as the President talked about the American Flag that was signed by the Seals who took down Osama Bin Laden. I agreed that it didn't matter what color your skin was, what party you vote for, man... woman, straight... gay. You help who's next to you, you watch each other's back. This President is thinking about our country as a "whole" not as a divide.
Isn't that what America is all about?
Time for a cup...

Television at its Finest!
Posted by
Caffeinated OC Mommy
Hello Readers of Caffeine Convoy!
TV. Television. Tele. The squak-box. Whatever you call it, it's all the same and I am so tired of it! I'm irritated that there are hundreds and hundreds of channels, but only ahandful, only a few, couple of stations that are worthwhile to watch! Maybe I've had a bit to much caffeine while writing this, hmmm...
These seem to be the only topics on the airwaves lately...
Kim Kardawhateverthef*%#k her name is, making a mockery out of marriage, the scandal about who saw what and the cover up of the filthy Penn State coaches, Herman Cain and ALL the women that are speaking up, REALLY? ANOTHER Housewives' show? NOooo! Rick Perry's brain fart moment... Ghosts and more ghosts? And I'm not talking about the ghost chillies that Adam what's his name eats up in 10 minutes flat! Not only is there sh#t on TV, but it's all over the place on Hoarder Town USA! And PLEASE not another brawl in Snookieville!
This is what captures our interest? Or is it so in our face that you can't help but to see it when clicking through the never-ending sea of channels? I know, I know, some of this stuff is current events and it probably is important... I mean, we need to know if our Presidential hopefuls are legit, right?
I have a new name for the TV... BOOB Tube! Well, okay, it's not really new, does revamped count?
I think I'll switch to a nice cup of decaf right about now...

The 99... It Ain't Exactly Clear
Posted by
ExpressoSelf
I hope that people are paying attention to the lower 99... Stephen Stills wrote it perfectly in a song for his band Buffalo Springfield to perform, "there's something happinin here.. what it is aint exactly clear..." You remember this song right? "what a field day for the heat... a thousand people in the street... singin songs that they carry inside... mostly say hurray for our side... it's time we stop, hey what's that sound everybody look what's goin down"
The song is appropriate for the 99, even though it was written for the Sunset Strip Riot back in 1966. There's no riot happening on Wall Street, just many, many peaceful protestors that are tired of being lied to.
Republican Party, stop with your lies of trying to help Americans get back to work. If you were trying to create jobs you would know that you need to create demand. You can't create demand if you keep giving the big corporations tax breaks! The big corporations aren't buying their own product... the lower 99 is!
Democratic Party, man oh man... would you guys just NUT UP already?? It's about the good for the whole country, not the good of trying to get along with the GOP!
Pay attention to the 99...
Another pot of coffee, PRONTO!!

Maggie Goes On A Diet (book for kids???)
Posted by
KonaStirrIt
I am curious what you think about this book? I just heard about it this morning and thought to myself...book for kids to learn to diet and be thin so people will like you and you will finally be happy??? Really??? I get that our kids should not be at unhealthy weights, but to make them responsible for their own success in that? What about the parental role in teaching your kids the right way to eat? Obviously if Maggie was able to diet and choose better foods and more physical activity in order to loose weight, she had a problem. But was the problem hers or her parents?
I am getting a mixed message about the book...
“Losing the weight was not only good for Maggie’s health, Maggie was so much happier and was also very proud of herself.” - I agree, a healthy child is a happy child, success is always good when its motivation is being healthy.
“More and more people were beginning to know Maggie by name. Playing soccer gave Maggie popularity and fame.” - OK...so, the only way my child will be popular is if she is thin and can play sports? Otherwise, will you dismiss my child? Is my child being taught that they are worthless if not thin and popular?
It's bad enough that magazines make it seem as though a size "0" is the emblem of beauty for women...now a children's book is going to do the same for our children? Let's keep in mind, this book is geared for girls ages 4-10ish.
I am leaning towards not liking the book...What is your thought on this???

Grover Norquist is NOT for America!
Posted by
ExpressoSelf
Why are the Republican politicians so adamant about not raising the debt ceiling? They raised it 7 times under Bush Jr., they didn't have a problem raising it under Reagan. Hmmm... all Republican Presidents... Can anyone else see through the thick haze of stench that is clouding over the truth of our Nation's economic future? That stench?... Grover Norquist. What does Grover have to do with our financial woes and the debt ceiling that has been in the news night and day? Let's get to know Grover a little better shall we?
Grover is a non politician, a friend to the big corporations, and he has come up with a stupid, unAmerican pledge that ALL Republican politicians must take and promise their loyalty to Grover and his corporate backers. If they don't take this pledge, Grover and his posse will make sure that they are never elected again. This pledge is not to the President, not to the taxpayers, and not even for the good of our Country. This pledge promises no new taxes and makes sure that the big corporations get BIG tax breaks for using their corporate jets. We all like the idea of no new taxes, but when the Republicans talk about no new taxes, they're not talking about tax breaks for Mom & Pop down the street, they're not talking about tax cuts for you and me, they're talking about tax breaks for the big corporations that generates billions and billions of dollars. These companies give their money to Grover to ensure that they can do business anyway they want without paying their fair share of taxes and get breaks and loopholes to escape paying what they rightfully owe. Can we say Citizens United?
I need a pot of decaff right now!!!!!!

WTF? Governor Rick Perry Okays Execution of Non- US Citizen
Posted by
ExpressoSelf
Yesterday, Governor Rick Perry of Texas, has now changed the rules for all of us who travel outside of our home country. He didn't follow the guidelines of the Vienna Convention which the United States has signed in 1969 along with 125 other signatories. The President, and 4 members of the Supreme Court asked the state of Texas to put this execution on hold for 30 days. Why you ask? This guy should be put to death for his crime of murder and why would we stop it? He wasn't an American citizen, that's why.
If you travel outside of our country and get arrested somewhere far, far away from your home, because of the treaty that was signed and ratified, the USA will be allowed to come to your aid. You might be guilty, you might not get immunity, but you'll still get help from your home country. Humberto Leal was guilty of murder, and he was deprived by the state of Texas, from receiving help from his own country, Mexico.
I'm not defending this guy for his horrendous act of murder, but isn't this the country who believes in being fair and just? Isn't this the country who just a few days ago was in an uproar over the Casey Anthony decision? Fair is fair, and Humberto Leal was not treated fairly when it came to being assisted by his home country.
Now when you travel outside of the USA, you better be on your best behavior. If you end up being arrested, you better hope and pray that the country you're in might treat you better than our own.
Another pot coffee please!

What Does Governor Chris Christie & Casey Anthony Have in Common?
Posted by
ExpressoSelf
The politics of our country has never been so corrupt... or has it always been corrupt and I'm only now paying attention? But it seems to me that there are many in this land of opportunity that aren't paying attention to the opportunities that are being taken away by the Republican Party. The Republican Party has changed over the years and they no longer resemble the Republicans of the 1800s, especially our very first Republican President of this nation, Abraham Lincoln.
Of course it's important to have different political parties with different views, it's suppose to help keep everyone in check... but what about when a party doesn't play fair and lies to get their way? I guess the saying, "All's fair in love and war" counts for politics too?
While most of America is outraged about the Casey Anthony decision, the news of Governor Chris Christie and his line vetoes get put on the back table. How wonderful that America is so outraged over an unfair decision of one dead child. It shows compassion, it shows that people care and that there are limits to what is right and wrong. Why am I comparing Casey Anthony and Governor Chris Christie? How can I ever put the two together in the same post? Easy. Americans love a good fight. We want justice. We want fairness and we want the bad guys to go to hell.
It was obviously clear to many that Casey Anthony was guilty, but to some, those who didn't pay attention to this case (me), I wouldn't know the difference if she was an angel or the devil... I didn't give it any thought. So now let's talk about New Jersey Governor Chris Christie.
If Americans paid as much attention to what's going on in New Jersey, Michigan, Minnesota, and Wisconsin as they have with this whole Casey Anthony case, we'd have a lot less problems with the way these extreme Republicans are running their states. Governor Chris Christie was at an impasse when it came to the state of New Jersey's budget. He sat down with the Senate President of NJ, Steven Sweeney, to somehow make this budget thing work. Hmmmm... how to get the budget to pass? Senator Sweeney asked for no cuts to the programs for the blind, deaf, seniors, poor kids food programs, and education to name a few. Fair enough, don't you think? With these concessions now on the ballot, Senator Sweeney felt this was worthwhile, even though the big hit will be aimed at the unions, and he would let his colleagues know and to vote accordingly. The ballot was passed and now for the good part...
In the state of New Jersey, the Governor has a power called, Line Item Veto. What that means is he's allowed to pass a bill and take out all the lines he doesn't want in it. Not even our President of the USA has this power. So what do you think this jackass did? Ding, ding, ding... winner! Yep, he took out every single line that he and Senator Sweeney agreed upon. Cuts to every program that has to do with the children, the elderly, and the disabled.
Come on America, fight the good fight. Fight for our country to be fair and just. Don't let the bad guy get away with a cackling laugh and a big Ef You! The power is within those who are willing to pay attention to our country's politics and then vote accordingly.
I know we can pay attention to what's right for our country. I know it is in us to feel the rage of unjust when we see it. I heard it in the many voices that were outraged with a not guilty verdict for Casey Anthony. Now be outraged at what's going on in the Republican agenda.
Waiter! Refill please!

Nobel Prize Winner Not Good Enough For Republican Senator Dick Shelby
Posted by
ExpressoSelf
A Nobel Prize winning economist, for economy (duh)... the highest honor... is not good enough to serve on the Federal Reserve Board. Senator Richard Shelby believes that Peter Diamond is unqualified to set economic policy even though Mr. Diamond won a Nobel Prize for Economic Sciences in 2010 and specializes in labor market. Ummmm, okay Dick, if a Nobel Prize winner is not good enough for you... WTF?
I need a venti decaf about now...
Unqualified says Dick
MIT Congratulates Peter Diamond
Peter Diamond withdraws because of idiots
