Good God, this is just so insane. The whole idea of censorship and book-burning is so un-American it's not even funny. I think I'll need an Irish coffee with a shot on the side after seeing this!
Heeey, btw, just wanted to thank you for including me in your blogroll. Awfully sweet of you! You're on my list of faves, too.
Thanks for dropping by MP! It's always a pleasure when you leave your thoughts as I am a big fan of yours. Since I'm pretty much a single cup of coffee around here, I figured I can pick my strong brewed favorite blogs and you and Sue are my tops! : )
While I don't condone the Florida pastor's actions, I defend his freedom of expression to do it. Let's be serious. He's not the bad guy here. The Islamic extremists are. As a Christian, I'm not going to behead somebody because someone burns a bible.
Thanks for stopping by Freedom. I DO agree with you, freedom of expression is one of the many rights we have as American citizens. The Pastor's choice to burn the Koran just feels so irresponsible to me knowing that he is a leader in a congregation and others will follow... maybe I'm just steamed because I take peace on earth very seriously and I teach my children tolerance. I'll have to think it over with a pot of coffee...
Hey 753... Great posts! I know, I know, freedom of expression is part of our country... It's ignorance that should be outlawed! Care to join me for a shot of expresso?
I feel so naive for feeling, every time I read or hear about violence, that there must be some other way to resolve differences, and that there certainly must be a way for multitudes of people of varying faiths to live harmoniously. I fail to see the power in symbolic moves like torching Obama or the Koran...and then cringe at how divisive these actions turn out to be. Have we really come no further than control via atrocity?
I think there are those that live peacefully and lead a good, and well intentioned life. It's just that they're NOT in the news. The media seems to only cover bad or violent news that spreads into the minds of many. What would happen if media spread happy and positive information or at least have a balance of good and bad? I'll have to ponder this idea over a cup of coffee...

ReplyDeletePlease don't get caught up in the stampede to limit freedom of expression. There's more to this than meets the eye.
