Just a thought while having my coffee... if someone is Fair and Balanced, that means they have no opinion on the matter. Right? If the media is Fair and Balanced, then they are only reporting the news without opinions, just facts. Correct? Then why does Fox News use Fair and Balanced as their motto when they have opinions about the news they are reporting? Hmmmmm... need a refill for my cup.

I had this same thought the other day as I was watching my local news. I realize Fox actually uses the slogan, but I thought news was supposed to be fair and balanced naturally. On two separate occasions I caught my local news station completely swaying the story to the side they wanted readers to agree with. I called them on it on Facebook. Funny how I got no reply. Sorry, I needed to vent to someone who would understand what I was saying!
ReplyDeleteThe Fair and Balanced motto is hilarious! Look how Fox hosted the GOP debate , is that fair?? Never should they have done that, and all the questions asked by Fox hosts! So sick it's not even funny. Should make all of America sick!
ReplyDeleteKaren- we here at Caffeine Convoy LOVE to venti! Come back again when you're feeling the steam rise...
ReplyDeleteI'll definitely be back. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteSue- You mean to tell me showing the GOP debate over and over the past few days with questions of no relevance in helping our country isn't fair?? Huh? Of course Fox News is fair, Sean Hannity says so ... LOL LOL Cups up!!
ReplyDeleteP.S. Even when you're in a slump, your blog STILL ROCKS!
you're too kind Expresso, thanks!
ReplyDeleteThey all have agendas and opinions. Not all of them are as biased as Fox, nor are all of their agendas and opinions as easily to spot as Fox's. But saying "Fox is biased propaganda but $NEWORGNAMEHERE is straight news" is only halfway true. We've never gotten as far away from yellow journalism as we'd like to think we have. That's why I read a wide variety from across the political spectrum, foreign and domestic.
ReplyDeleteI agree that reading or watching a variety of news is the way to go. That way you, hopefully, get both sides of the story. Or at least something resembling the whole story.
