Nobel Prize Winner Not Good Enough For Republican Senator Dick Shelby

A Nobel Prize winning economist, for economy (duh)... the highest honor... is not good enough to serve on the Federal Reserve Board.  Senator Richard Shelby believes that Peter Diamond is unqualified to set economic policy even though Mr. Diamond won a Nobel Prize for Economic Sciences in 2010 and specializes in labor market.  Ummmm, okay Dick, if a Nobel Prize winner is not good enough for you... WTF?

I need a venti decaf about now...

Scholastic For Kids+Coal Industry=Curriculum You Can't Trust

Have you heard about this?  A name that 4 out of 5 parents trust has teamed up with the American Coal Federation (ACF) to create a 4th grade curriculum that teaches our kids about coal, oil, and natural gas.  Okay, fine... I want my kids to learn about energy, Scholastic says so and I trust them, oh wait... the ACF are happy to report that now the coal industry got its stamp of approval by Scholastic and the curriculum is really just propaganda to keep the future generation unknowing of the dirty truths about coal and its affects on the environment and on the health of the many workers of the coal mines.

Wow.

Here's a few links that I found that might make you say, "Wow."

Political Parties, Do They Really Care?

Is anyone else tired of our political parties?  What happened to the true meaning of what being a Republican or Democrat stood for?  The virtues that these parties once valued are no longer there, but the voters of today still believe in these politicians who claim to be someone from the distant past.  Abraham Lincoln, Republican, I'm pretty sure he knew the story of Paul Revere, 1 if by land, 2 if by sea, you know... lanterns, not bells and whistles.  Franklin D. Roosevelt, no crotch shots coming out of this Democrat!  And now Tea Party politics... sponsored by the Koch Brothers...

To keep this Nation strong, smart, and prosperous, get informed before you vote!  Be educated and don't get your news from one source.  Don't let politicians give you their version of our history.  Refresh your memory and read up on our history and know first hand how we became the country that we are.  Everyone interprets religion differently, it's based on faith, but there is no denying facts when there is evidence in our history.

Feeding our kids. Over 300 Take Part In Milk Day Of Action!

I don't know, but I will assume, if you have kids you care about what they eat. I struggle to make sure my kids eat as healthy as they can. I can't imagine them being fed "crap" and expecting them to feel good afterwards. Of course, we can't be perfect. But I sure as heck try.

I was stopped by a mom a few weeks ago and she told me, "Your daughter and her best friend have the healthiest lunches at this school. How do you get yours to eat that? You should get an award." OK, so where is my award? My award is in the health of my child. She begs me for cucumbers, carrots, apples, oranges, strawberries, snap peas, and (my favorite) broccoli. I tried sending Cheetos one time, and I couldn't believe they came back home. I am so proud of her. She even asks me what is healthy and what is not, because as she says, "we are not supposed to eat unhealthy food, it makes you not feel good." Want to know my trick? I just never gave her crap from the start. They won't enjoy the "crap" if they are not given the chance to enjoy it.

I recently started watching Jamie Oliver's Food Revolution. I can say, I love that show! I struggle with the fact that so many kids at my daughter's school eat "crap" for lunch, served by the cafeteria. Mind you, our cafeteria is basically a heating station, sink and holding area. The food gets shipped in from a district prepping kitchen. By the time the kids get the food, who knows how long the food has been prepped for. Doesn't matter though, since the food is full of preservatives, sitting in syrup, or if fresh, there is only a bite or two of it for each kid that can be held in a small fridge until lunch time. My favorite...the "Donut Power Ball". It's like a power ball chock full of preservatives that can last for years in your cabinet. Ingredient list...blah blah blah that I can't pronounce and have no idea what it is blah blah blah. So why would I feed them to my kid? I don't. What is it going to take for us to have healthier options for our kids? And additionally, if you want to feed my kid crap, why take away the PE every day. Sorry, I will save that tantrum for another day :-)

I recommend we take action...I have by not allowing my daughter to eat school lunches when possible (which is pretty much every day). Small step, but if your child attends public school, send them a healthy lunch and that might teach the school a small lesson. Don't buy the crap they feed the kids and they may have to change what they feed them.

WHEW! I had my first taste of a coconut mocha frap this morning. I am on a roll :-)

Sarah Palin- How Stupid Do You Gotta Be?

Are we really gonna let this woman represent America?  Really?  She knows nothing of our country's history, she knows nothing about foreign policy, she quit on her own people in Alaska, and heck, she doesn't even know where Russia is!  Why is she getting so much press?  OHhhhh, she's a media whore!  I get it, this is for her new reality TV show, right?... RIGHT???

Get me another pot of coffee... QUICK!!!
